Who we are

Hey Dad! (“we”, “us”) is a South African business that sells digital parenting guides through this website, heydad365.com. We are what the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) calls the “responsible party”: we decide why and how your personal information is used.

Our information officer can be reached at support@heydad365.com for any privacy question, request or complaint. This policy also aims to meet the transparency standards visitors expect under the GDPR.

What we collect

We only collect what we need to run the shop and, with your consent, to email you:

• Your name and email address when you buy a guide or sign up for the free chapters
• Your country, for tax and payment processing
• Order details: what you bought, the amount, the payment reference and your download history
• Messages you send us through the contact form, including your email address and order number if you include one
• Cookies and similar technologies: essential cookies for your cart and checkout, and — only with your consent — analytics cookies that tell us, in aggregate, how the site is used

Why we use it (the legal basis)

To deliver what you bought: completing the contract between us — processing your payment, generating your download links and confirming your order by email.

To reply to you: processing the message you sent us, and our legitimate interest in answering support questions.

To email you the free chapters and the weekly newsletter: your consent, given when you tick the box on the signup form. You can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email.

To keep the site safe and improve it: our legitimate interest in preventing abuse and understanding which pages are useful, using aggregated analytics.

Who processes it for us

We never sell your personal information. We share it only with the services that make the shop work:

• Our hosting and application platform, which stores the site and your order and subscriber records
• Paystack, our payment processor, which handles your card details. We never see or store your card number
• Our email service, which sends order confirmations and (with your consent) the newsletter
• Google Analytics, only after you accept analytics cookies, and only in aggregate

International transfers

Some of these services operate outside South Africa. We use them only where they provide appropriate protection for personal information — for example, standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards — and we keep what we share with them to the minimum needed.

How long we keep it

Order records: seven years, for tax and accounting purposes. Newsletter records: until you unsubscribe, plus a short period needed to honour your request and keep records of consent. Support messages: two years. Analytics data: retained in aggregate only.

How we protect it

Your data is stored on the platform’s managed infrastructure, with access controls and encryption in transit. Download links are tokenised, private files are served through short-lived signed URLs, and only authorised administrators can see order and subscriber records.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to stop using it — including objecting to processing based on legitimate interest. Under POPIA you can also complain to the Information Regulator; under the GDPR you can lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

To use any of these rights, email support@heydad365.com or use the contact form and write “Data request”. We will respond within a reasonable time and verify the request where needed.

Marketing consent and unsubscribing

We only email you marketing content if you ticked the consent box, and every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing from the newsletter never affects your order confirmations or download links — those are part of your purchase.

Children

The site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and we do not collect children’s details at all — accounts and orders are held by the adult who made the purchase.

Cookies

Essential cookies (your cart, checkout session and security) are set as soon as you use the site. Analytics cookies are only set after you accept them in the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time by clearing site data in your browser.

How to complain

Contact us first at support@heydad365.com — we want to fix things. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa (complaints@inforegulator.org.za, PO Box 31533, Braamfontein, Johannesburg), or, if you are in the EU/UK, your local data protection authority.
